Affordable Housing for Seniors
Built in 1917 as a Catholic convent and private school, Mount Mercy was acquired by the GRHC in 1991 and renovated to provide affordable retirement apartments for ages *55 and older. A 55-unit addition was completed in 2005. This development is located on 30 rolling, park-like acres just northwest of downtown Grand Rapids.
*Ages 55-61 must be disabled to receive a federal rental subsidy.
Eligible tenants receive a federal rental subsidy, which means rent is not more than 30 percent of the household’s adjusted monthly income.
